If you do not have health insurance or plan to pay for health care bills yourself — Arthritis, Rheumatic & Bone Disease Associates (ARBDA) understands the importance of financial transparency and will provide you with an estimate of expected charges to better understand your potential financial responsibility.

** NOTE ** Under Federal law, an estimate of expected charges is only required for patients without health insurance, those who plan to pay for health care bills themselves, or upon request. In these circumstances, ARBDA will provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) before any services are rendered.

A Good Faith Estimate is NOT a bill

This Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created but won’t include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during your treatment.

Federal law allows you to dispute the bill if the difference between your billed charges and the GFE is $400 or more.

You may contact the ARBDA Billing Office at 856-424-5005 X 476 to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the original bill.

If you dispute your bill, ARBDA cannot move the bill for the disputed item or service into collections or threaten to do so. If the bill has already moved into collections, ARBDA will cease collection efforts until the matter is resolved. Furthermore, ARBDA will never take (or threaten to take) any retributive action against you for disputing your bill.

** NOTE **  Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate in a safe place or take pictures of it so you can compare it to any bills you receive later.
